The City and State have gotten into the legislative game of picking winners and losers.
They stacked the deck so heavily toward P&L they can't help but win. Now the City can live with the blight and loss of revenue.
Such a shame. Bar Natasha was a great downtown destination.
Great people involved there but bad marketing. In all the years they owned it they never put any signeage outside to identify it. The building looked closed half the time without any windows. Plus the city put up one of the Max bus stops outside the front door which obscured it even more. They spent thousands doing untargeted advertising in the KC Star. Plus it had no parking lot and it often was difficult to park anywhere near on weekends.
It could still work in a new location with windows. But they can't blame this on the Power and Light District.
They've got the staff and the musical equipment. Let's hope they'll just find a new location and keep it going.
well, maybe if they reinvested some of their profits into improvements such as .. A SIGN, some parking, etc.. they wouldn't be closing. The City should not be blamed for the owners poor business decisions.
Agreed. Put up a SIGN! HELLO? Missy isn't exactly what I'd call "business savvy" .. Perhaps Ditzy lesbian? Nice idea... nice little place... but, something was still missing. The same song and dance got old - quick. Move and start over... sell the volvo...and a twist.
bar natasha made some poor business decisions. they spent too much money booking mediocre entertainment acts. i think they way overpaid julia othmer, alacartoona, barclay martin, marilyn wood. not everyone likes that sort of thing all the time. i think that is part of what made their prices so high, that and the employees who drank for free on the job. the high prices was what turned me off, especially when i lost interest in the musicians after seeing the same ones over and over and witnessing employees drinking for free while i was charged unbelievable prices for food and drinks.
Thank you Missy and friends for a
wonderful venue and a great many
wonderful memories
