There wasn't an inordinate amount of rain . . . Over the past days Kansas City just experienced a slightly unexpected Summer downpour. Sadly, because of this town's busted water infrastructure . . . Near disaster has ensued.
A KICKASS TKC TIPSTER NOTES THE FOLLOWING:
The City Hall Law Department has assigned staff to deal with the back log of complaints and claims.
Private companies have now been contracted to clean up Kansas City basements.
As best as they can, the City is relying of the "Act of God" defense but is still paying out a lot of cash.
Good news: If a property owner can legitimately claim a health hazard due to flooding (thanks to Kansas City's lousy pipes) then Kansas City will quickly pick up the tab and send a local company (probably affiliated with Service Master) to sanitize, remove carpets, etc.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, THANKS TO NEGLECT OF KANSAS CITY'S WATER INFRASTRUCTURE WHILE MAYOR FUNKY IS PUSHING FOR LIGHT RAIL . . . THE COMING INCREASE IN WATER AND SEWER BILLS FOR THE AVERAGE KANSAS CITY PROPERTY OWNER WILL BE AT LEAST $1,000 BY NEXT YEAR!!! Unfortunately, Kansas City voters thought they elected someone who would address local infrastructure concerns but has instead worked harder to put forth a ridiculous light rail scheme.
So now some people have an idea of what it is we really need in Kansas City. We need a way to carry our shit to the treatment plant. Light rail will not carry fecal material (except the two legged type) very well. So maybe just maybe some people will decide tht they want the shit out of their house and never in their basements enough that they will not only decide to VOTE NO on any LIGHT RAIL PLAN, but also get off their couch and get out and work to get the stupid FOoFoo line defeated and the sewers and storm drains fixed.
WE WANT LIGHT RAIL!
We have to wait till after to worry about flushing.
I'd love to clean her pipes.
Cost keeps going up but my water keeps getting dirtier. Shameful.
Never fear. Jan Marcason is in charge of this and she only needs another six months for a really neat green solution.
Sewer backups are for poor people. Why don't they just move to an off Plaza condo?
This makes me really glad that Jan got us the 6 month extention on the EPA deadline so that we can make things GREEN!
GO JAN!!!!
you keep up the good work!!!!!
Jan did something? I hope they got it on tape.
Jan is looking for a green solution to the poor people problem too...
I think she's looking to a 70s movie for her inspiration.
you go girl!
Seriously now, light rail is more important than sewers. If sewers were so important why did Clay not petition for them? Stop worrying about the poor. The crystals say they will always be with us. I'm from City Hall and I'm here to help you.
I'M IMPORTANT! LOOK AT MY CAPS!
