KANSAS CITY STAR WON'T COVER THE INTERNETS EVEN THOUGH IT'S WHERE THEY GET HALF THEIR STORIES!!!

Heh, turns out that story about the nasty Mike Sharp e-mails was true . . . For people who vote based on what kind of e-mail gets sent out by a candidate, this is big news. But here's the more important fact:

THE KANSAS CITY STAR IS INTENTIONALLY MISLEADING THEIR READERS WHEN THE FAIL TO MENTION THAT THE EVIDENCE IN THIS STORY APPEARED FIRST ON KANSAS CITY BLOGS!!!

The Star lamely says that the evidence appeared on two websites but then fails to even provide the address of Sharp Unmaksed.com . . . Where most people got the info.

Also, THREE OTHER BLOGS HAD THE KEY ELEMENTS OF THIS STORY FIRST:

  • I doubted the validity of the story and the images but at least TKC offered people the opportunity to judge for themselves i.e. links are awesome!!!.

  • The KC Blue Blog also analyzed the Sharp E-mails

  • Jeff Roe curiously noted the Democrat drama as well . . . TKC assumes that all sleazy campaigning in Kansas City comes from Jeff Roe but I don't even know if he's backing anybody in this race.

At this point it's clear to see that The Star is guilty of a clear bias against the Internets and the local blogosphere.

SADLY, IF THE STAR REFUSES TO REPORT ON KANSAS CITY BLOGS AND THE DISCOURSE THAT'S ALREADY TAKING PLACE THEN THEY'RE ONLY REPORTING HALF OF THE STORY!!!

It really is a shame to watch The Star take up a bunker mentality when it comes to the local Internets when they should be working to cooperate, collaborate and co-opt web publishers who are so much faster than this town's paper of record.

Then again, this kind of thing makes me a lot less sympathetic when they talk about even more layoffs . . .

    2. Tony another fine job reporting ahead of the media. Anyone can judge what you write, but they can't judge you for beating the news to the scoop.

    3. The Star is just protecting its sources as any "good" journalist would do.

    4. Not following up on a lead is not protecting your sources, it's being just plain lazy. They gave him the endorsement for favors as usual.
