More privilege for Mayor Funky's people!!! City Employees stiffed for parking while Gloria Squitiro gets a subsidized space!!!
Once again Mayor Funky fails when it comes to leadership by example as his office flaunts their parking privilege.
Beginning June 1, Kansas City government will no longer use taxpayer dollars to pay for more than 100 employees to park in the garage across from City Hall.Of course what The Star article doesn't mention this but what City Hall employees mutter under their breath is that the Mayor's wife is merely (allegedly) a volunteer yet she gets special parking privileges meanwhile staffers are forced out on the street. Apparently, KC is a "city that works" for the Mayor's wife convenience.
The only exceptions appear to be a few aides in Mayor Mark Funkhouser’s office. Mayor’s spokesman Kendrick Blackwood said the mayor’s office would continue to pay for five employees to park in the garage at 11th and Oak streets. Others in the mayor’s office park for free in the City Hall basement garage.
Ohhhh, what a scoop.
ReplyDeletehey tony how about the councilmen aides that park in city hall garage free
ReplyDeleteThe council aides are paid employees and to correct Tony, so are the Mayor's employees.
ReplyDeleteMs. Squitiro on the other hand is not an employee so her car doesn't belong in that parking section.
so. fucking. what.
ReplyDeleteWhy should taxpayers pay for city workers' parking? Taxpayers shouldn't be paying for ANY City Worker's parking. If City workers are getting paid parking then it should be a taxable benefit.
ReplyDeleteTaxpayers doen't pay for my parking and I work downtown.
Can we get a recall effort going?
ReplyDeleteIs there enough grassroots interest in the blogosphere?
Why should taxpayers pay for city workers' parking?
ReplyDeleteIt is all part of the pay package. Many downtown business's pay for employee parking. It is just another benefit like health care, 401K etc.
Folks like to say that government should be run like a business, then complain when they do the exact same thing that many downtown business's do.
Now paying for parking of volunteers, that is another question.
That's why Gloria is Funkhouser's wife.
ReplyDeleteOnce Tony gets married he'll have a better understanding of married couples
Exactly Steve. So maybe this Mayor should answer the 1 year old question of whether or not Gloria is an aide/employee or volunteer. Pretty sure she's past the volunteer level.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet she doesn't volunteer very often.
ReplyDeletewho cares.
ReplyDeleteSnakes on a plane... the Squid on a train. Or light rail or a bus.
ReplyDeleteI think the issue is that the lower paid city employees are getting this benefit removed while the big wage earners remain untouched.
ReplyDeleteSolution??? Don't vote for any of these people the next chance you get.
in a funk has a great point. If only more people would vote.
ReplyDeleteThe people most always get what they pay for. Funk deceived them a little (well maybe a lot)... so either its an early trip to the shower for a recall or if he runs, the people votehim out.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I would enjoy seeing him run and get squashed.
Exactly. I would love to see him run and lose his ass, but then again the thought of him running Kansas City for more than a year has me a little sick to my stomach and I voted for the idiot.
ReplyDelete"But going forward, with regards to the new employees, I want to discuss different options, ones that are more in line with standard business practices."
Can anyone say Republican?
InaFunk makes a good point when he mentions that the hardest working men and women, who are at the bottom of the ladder are getting the shaft while his good for nothing "aides" and employees running around playing dumbass in his office go untouched.
See ya Funk ! If you aren't forced to resign due to controversy or campaign finance fraud I can promise you won't even receive 30% of the vote come election time.
So this is any different that Billary?
ReplyDeleteThe Democrats will ALWAYS take maximum advantage of any situation to their benefit.
And the silly fools that follow them are to stupid to figure out when they're deceived.
Except Tony. He's the paragon of "I can't do it for myself so government needs to do it for me" psyche.
Here is the problem (for Squitero):
ReplyDeleteNow that Gloria receives free parks such as parking, that is a thing of value in return for her supposed "volunteer" services. This sounds to me like a taxable event. Is she now an "employee" and thereby covered by the anti-nepotism rules? She is receiving something of value at the expense of the City of Kansas City, in return for her providing services in the Mayor's office. I am sure she receives other such perks, as well.
Gloria gets free parking, while the openly actual employees have to pony up parking expenses. What a shame. I wonder if she mutters "let them eat cake" as she pulls into her free parking spot.
