Funkhouser supporters think they know better than the KCPD!!!
Over at Dan's place there was an interesting discussion regarding the tactics of the KCPD. Here's just a tiny excerpt of a member of Mayor Funkhouser's kitchen cabinet bad mouthing the cops:
I'm willing to bet they blew over 80 hours of cop time on 7 arrests and 279 needless hasslings of law-abiding citizens, with attendant delay for those unlucky saps. More than 10 hours per arrest, and if they eliminated two checkpoints a month, they would save the equivalent of a new cop.Normally, I don't like quoting or linking to Dan because he's a dirtbag, a member of Mayor Funky's Kitchen Cabinet and a die-hard Democrat . . . Include all of these attributes with the fact that he's a white guy and I'm quite sure that matches the criminal profile of a serial killer or at least the kind of guy who would have sex with a picnic table.
Anyhoo . . . His recent post once again reveals the arrogance of Mayor Funky's people. Put simply:

Of course, I'm not a fan of DUI stops but that's why I stay hidden in my mother's basement on Friday and Saturday night . . . Also, as so many d-bags like to constantly note in the silly attempt to try and "get" to TKC - This is a blog with jokes and I would be frightened as hell if anybody took me seriously . . . On the other hand, Dan and a great many of his poorer, d-bag acolytes seem to want to influence policy and take an active role in Kansas City politics (ugh).
Once again, what we're seeing is yet another community in Kansas City - Local law enforcement - thrown under a bus because they don't support Mayor Funky's self-promotion.
Dan's blames the KCPD for Mayor Funky's cutbacks of everything in this town but amenities intended to attract suburbanites (It's a Kay Barnes retro actually - This time cutting infrastructure with JoCo in mind) . . . It's shameful actually but at least the move was "transparent" so anybody with an IQ above inbred (TKC) can see through the feeble ruse.
Sadly, when it comes to real cases of police harassment and abuse Dan and most politically savvy so-called liberal Democrat d-bags (like Mayor Funky) stay embarrassingly silent . . . But in the aftermath of a Kansas City budget debacle THAT COMPLETELY SOLD OUT THE RESIDENTS OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI (!!!) Mayor Funky's people are more than happy to cast blame on whatever contingent that is most readily available . . . This time it's Kansas City's finest, the next time IT COULD BE YOU!!!

the dui checkpoints are generally on routes taken by the uber rich in JOCO, these are designed to pad the coffers of KCMO. So in addition to the 1% but reaming for nothing, the police intentionally target (profile) JOCO residents who most likely have already paid sales/liquor/food/hotel/strip club tax. the region pays in more ways than one for the wonderful things KCMO does.
When citizens start beating drunks, and the drunks start getting life sentences for DUI that cause a death then we can tell the cops to stop.
I want the cops to go hassle the Gone Mild guy he is the kind who drinks and drives, because he has the right. The privileged who are entitled to everything they want.
I know if a carjacker was fleeing from the police and driving through neighborhoods that the police will take suit no matter what.

Tony, thanks for the link. I've stuck to my resolution to avoid commenting on your daily Funkhouser attacks, but I'm breaking my resolution this time to gently remind people that this is a joke blog, and that I speak for nobody but myself. I haven't discussed it with him, but I'd be willing to bet that Mark disagrees with my position on checkpoints.
Once again Dan shows that he has a lot more class than most people in the blogosphere.

When are you going to call Dan and others out for their hypocritical stance on the Zoo Association?
They cried blackmail when La Raza threatened to pull out over Semler. Now the Zoo Association is threatening to pull out unless KC brings a briefcase full of $600K to the Zoo.
If anything the Zoo Association is a lot more like blackmail.
I had a friend who was killed instantly by a white guy who was driving drunk on a suspended license. He didn't have insurance either and all he got was a slap on the wrist sentence.
Drunk drivers can and have killed innocent law abiding people and they need to be taken off the streets!
Oh, and Dan, you and your Funky lovers are douches!
police are our servants, not our masters...or, at least that's the way i thought it was supposed to be...
Too bad one of the cops tied up with the stupid, inefficient, 10+ man-hour invasion of civil rights wasn't out on the streets to prevent the accident that killed your friend, anonymous 11:35. My condolences. Now go tell the cops that 7 DUI arrests ought to be a per-person quota on a Friday night, not the net result from a dozen cops hassling almost 300 motorists.

Well im a die hard Democrat any day and I didn't vote for funkhouser or like him. So you can say a certain person is bad but saying Democrats fit a serial killer profile is a bit insane itself.
