TKC fact check: Dirtbag Dan backs dude involved in doggie death!!!

Let's talk a moment about bad judgment on the part of a local blogger who fancies himself a political insider. Dan had it right when he backed Beth Gottstein, she has turned out to be a great representative of the 4th District and all of Kansas City. Admittedly, I was slow to jump on her bandwagon (heh) because of personal reasons (I love my mom) but BUT AFTER THE PRIMARY GOTTSEIN HAD THE FULL SUPPORT OF TKC and this fully armed and operational battle station blog. In that case, Dan had it right even though it was probably the support of this blog that pushed her to her victory. Natch.

Also, it's worth nothing that with this current anti-smoking confusion Gottstein is one of the few City Council Members to back a comprehensive and easy to understand smoking ban.

Sadly, the failed political career of Mark Funkhouser is more representative of Dan's bad judgment. Every so often, the dude writes the guy love letters and defends him from this puny blog as if he's trying to win affection. It's kind of weird actually.

But what I want to note is Dan's most recent political pick. Over the weekend, the member of Mayor Funky's Kitchen Cabinet wrote an endorsement of John Bullard for Jackson County Sheriff.

WHAT DAN FAILED TO MENTION WAS THAT IN 2003 BULLARD'S POLICE DOG DIED AFTER BEING LEFT IN A CAR DUING 97 DEGREE HEAT AND THEN BULLARD'S CAR COLLIDED WITH AN 82 YEAR OLD MOTORIST!!!

Here are the exciting bits from the story:
A police dog died of heat exposure after the air conditioning in his patrol car failed, authorities said.

The dog, Hondo, had been alone in the car for about an hour when he was found unconscious by his handler, Independence Police Sgt. John Bullard, about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Outside temperatures had reached 97 degrees . . .

Bullard was driving the dog to an animal hospital when his patrol car collided with a vehicle driven by an 82-year-old motorist, who was treated for minor injuries. Another officer took Bullard and Hondo to the hospital, where the dog was pronounced dead on arrival.
A special thanks to a TKC Tipster who noticed yet another example of Dan's hypocrisy and bad judgment.

Poor Hondo!!!

To be fair, there is talk of a failed "hot system" in Bullard's car and I don't know if the guy was ever reprimanded in the police doggie death but I think this is a relevant fact that Jackson County voters might want to know before they cast their vote. UPDATE: In a hurried response to TKC Dan notes that Bullard got a flag for the dead dog and the doggie death was blamed on a failed AC unit in a COMPLETELY UNBIASED STORY BY THE EXAMINER. Still, I'm only recycling the circumstances of the doggie death since so many people on this blog deride me for my utter lack of concern for mutts, they must actually think this kind of thing is important whereas I could care less and only want to point out the poor political judgment of a bloggy d-bag . . . Additionally, I always like to point out my multi-cultural sensitivity by reminding folks that in many Asian countries dog meat is a delicacy - No word on the accident with the 82 year old driver on the way to the vet but I'm sure that was somebody else's fault too and nobody really cares about the fate of old people when the life of a cute doggy is in question!!! TKC Note: On the other hand, I've never had a dog die on me even despite the fact that my only "hot system" is a wet towel I stick under my butt on hot days in my car that has no AC.

Supporters of Mayor Funkhouser also did the same thing when they backed Mayor Funky and failed to mention his wife's bare feet, controlling manner of the fact that dude had refinanced his house 14 of times.

I think now, we're learning from our mistakes which is a good thing, even though it's too late for Hondo.

Tony,

I'm sorry to see you stoop to this. I hope your readers will read the article, as well as this one.
http://www.examiner.net/stories/073103/new_073103011.shtml

John Bullard started the K9 patrol, and they gave him a flag when they laid Hondo to rest.

I get it that you're upset with me for my disagreements with you about the recall petition and its chances, as well as your unfortunate joke about mayors getting shot down.

Really, I don't like the "Dirtbag Dan" stuff, but I can ignore it. I realize it's your attempt to stir the pot and create controversy. I'll remain on a higher road, but can understand your motivation to generate traffic at whatever cost.

John Bullard is a good man who was crushed by the loss of his partner. For you to paint it as a flaw in him is truly reprehensible.

I don't expect a retraction, apology or clarification, but I do beg the readers of this blog to read the article and consider what sort of man Tony is, what sort of man John Bullard is, and what sort of person gave the "tip" to Tony.

Peace.

wow, I think Dan's blog sucks but that is incredibly petty against a cop who probably loved that dog.

Thanks to TKC's race-baiting the Cosentino's is filled with local news vampires looking for blood.

All because somebody was doing his job and had to decide whether to let someone stab him in the neck and die in the street or shoot the guy.

Joke and Satire blog my puckered pink asshole!

IF HE LOVED THE DOG SO DAMN MUCH THEN WHY DIDN'T HE TAKE BETTER CARE OF IT. I'M GLAD THAT I KNOW THIS EVEN IF I DON'T LIKE THE SORUCE. BULLARD CAN KISS MY VOTE GOODBYE.

Hondo died on his watch. He left it alone for an hour and never checked on it. He was irresponsible. I am not moved by crocodile tears. He had already run for sheriff once and knew he would again and couldn't afford a public relations disaster. There is no proof of this failed system, only the "word" of Independence cops. How good is that?

Another reason I don't go to the Chinese Buffets. We could be eating county property.

Your Mommie has a greater chance of winning if she goes against Beth.
I heard from a source Beth won't be supported by certain people next council election.

I really haven't agreed with Dan on a lot of things that he has written over the last year, but this is one that I do agree with. John Bullard is a great guy. I've met him many times and Hondo was that man's best friend. The K-9s have AC units to keep them cool on hot days. The AC unit stopped working. Not Bullard's fault. This guy built the K-9 unit and loved it dearly. I dont understand why other candidates would spread that type of whisper campaign. If they cared about the job so much maybe they should've been working full time instead of part time?

Beth wasn't supported by any one but her parents last time. She is such a great councilperson and I use the term person loosely.

It is clearly the dog's fault that it died of heat stroke. Bullard is a great guy.
