Remember way back when Mayor Funky used to like "regular folks?"
I notice the typical politics of personal destruction starting to creep up against the folks who are behind the Recall Effort . . . But luckily The KC Blue Blog puts things in a much better perspective:
It's always good to see normal everyday Kansas Citians, like those that filed the affidavit, getting involved in the political process.A City that works? Not exactly, not yet but it's nice to see that once again Mayor Funky has inadvertently achieved his goal of getting "regular folks" involved in KC.

Are these broads that filed the recall petition sistas or what. One of thems names Moniece or some fool idea like that. Figured they was sistas pissed off about old Brooks and Cauthen.

You know, Tony, here's one thing that truly amazes me. The few Funkhouser supporters are truly out to destroy the five petitioners. In the last 12 hours I have seen nothing but insults and degoratory comments towards them.
Near as I can tell, the committee of five has a constitutional right to file a grievance against their government. Also, near as I can tell, these 5 people are regular folks. So why, I wonder, are Funkhouser's supporters so eager to ridicule the 5? Could it be that they, like Funkhouser, only view regular folks as those who live in Brookside, make 100k a year, and enjoy lattes and book clubs?
Petition processes exist because the ultimate power in a democracy rests with the citizens. When government is innefective, citizens can take matters into their own hands. This administration has been an embarrasement. It's right for those of us who feversihly supported him to have the opportunity to amend our mistakes. Three more years of this is not something I'm looking forward to.
