"Wild Oats on Johnson Drive is Closed!"

Reports of the closing of one of the metro area's most luxurious and well stocked health food stores may leave local veggies in a panicked state. Offer them a bacon cheeseburger.

When I think luxury, I think a market that has been closed in the past due to health violations.

Its closed because they couldn't keep the rats out. KCTV 5 told me. Besides is a chair store they'll build a nother one just like it.

Also likely a Whole Foods Market is or soon will be available nearby. Whole Foods bought up Wild Oats earlier this year.

In my experience, Wild Oats/Whole Foods is not a vegetarian grocery store. They are more about being organic and eco-friendly. In my area, the Whole Foods meat, fish, deli and dairy departments are rivaled in terms of quality and variety by the more traditional meat-eater's Price Chopper, etc.

Word on the street is that the rats did indeed become a problem because they fled from nearby construction/demolition sites. I recall a recent story that stated they would be opening another Wild Oats elsewhere in JoCo next year. I wish they would just expand the one on Main st. but I couldn't afford it anyway.
