Hey Cameraman.net has some interesting scoop involving my favorite woman on the Council other than that 1st District hottie Bill Skaggs.
Apparently, with some folks on the Westside (okay, one person on the Westside) the "sign issue" is the most important subject in the history of the neighborhood.
So . . . With a great and informative link about KC's wayfinding program and a winning photo . . . The local blog details the trouble Beth Gottstein is currently having dealing with her Latino constituency in Kansas City i.e. we're all a bunch of complainers.
Also, I heard on the Shanin and Parks show recently (while reading a book and taking a dump) that there was some fruitcake pretending to be TKC (isn't that the saddest thing you ever read?) and another talk radio listening douche who made it on the airwaves and said that he's starting a recall campaign against Gottstein. And while only retired and/or marginally employed people believe what they hear on radio it's clear Gottstein faces some challenges in dealing with one of the bitchiest districts in Kansas City and all of KC MO in general given that the coming recession is bringing all of the complainers out in droves.
Which brings me to another point: What I love about this town is that everyone feels their entitled the utmost concern of their elected officals and there's not a hint of the notion (in this town's political scene at least) that most men lead lives of quiet desperation and voter turnout has done nothing but decline in recent years . . . So it's no surprise that Gottstein has taken some criticism over the recent "sign issue" from a few residents (one very "vigilant" dude).
But it's important to remember the following:
Still, I'm biased on this one, I endorsed Beth Gottstein in the general election and I admire anyone who wears black all the time - TKC has way too much dandruff to pull that one off. (ew)
And while I'm all in favor of every kind of Westside advocacy (the squeaky wheel gets the grease - Insert your lame greaser joke here: ________) I'm willing to write this issue off as "on the job" (heh) training.
Finally, while some may call it a slur, I like Gottstein because she's a JAP and by that I mean that I like Japanese people. Gottstein is Japanese, right?
For a more informed and eloquent take on this situation read the post that inspired this one on Hey Cameraman.net.
Sarah Silverman is undoubtedly a fine POA, a smoking Jewess of the highest order. Her comedy blows. Absolutely unlistenable. But man that hiney..
ReplyDeletesorry what was the issue?
Ha. Pretending to be TKC!! That's rich!! That IS sad, but as sad as posting here at 4 AM?
ReplyDeletethe recall should include both the fourth district councilmen
ReplyDeleteNO JOKE!!! Marcason needs to go, much worse than Gottstein.
ReplyDeleteI've got an idea for a Westside sign. How about: "ICE it's time to clean up this place."
ReplyDeleteWow. Youmade a racial slur against a Jewish councilperson? How can anyone give you any credibility whatsoever?
ReplyDeleteWTF? TKC likes Japanese people is not a racial slur.
ReplyDeleteWho knows what set-off Hey Cameraman on Gottstein, maybe he is just stressed out by the recurring "mustache/no mustache controversy."
ReplyDeleteTony, your use of the term "JAP" is particularly out-of-line -- more than your average offensive slur.
I understand your using the term "greaser," which is also offensive, but it is like a member of the LGBT community using the term Queer -- it is taking ownership of something to deny the bigots a weapon. YOUR use of JAP fails to meet that test.
When you use that kind of slur, you make it more difficult for people like me who criticize Semler for using a bigoted but less cruel phrase like "their people."
And do not get me wrong: Semler deserves the criticism and will get it from me.
Your use of the slur JAP divides communities who need to work against real bigots -- the kind who fill your email Inbox with hateful messages and even threats.
From a practical political perspective your post is damaging as well. Tony if this is the way you treat your political friends, then you are toast as a political blogger or community activist.
In order to make a immature joke, you posted something counter-productive to the greater good. With one slur, you cede the moral high ground.
You have a leading political blog now, and with leadership comes responsibility. Congratulations AND ain't life a bitch.
I thought it was public transportation and lightrail.
ReplyDelete11:53 - This site is about immature jokes. Nothing more. If you are so humorless, why are you reading a blog that does nothing but make crude jokes about Kansas City politics?
ReplyDeleteTony is not a leader he's a blogger. If you don't know the difference than you should really grow up.
i agree with anonymous both the 4 district council person can go both are in the fire dept pocket and both are one sided.
