The law only appeals to you when it's working against the people you don't like

Crime Scene KC posts this glorious headline that should put a lot of you "law and order" types on edge concerning your simplistic understanding of how a society works: KS appeals court: Illegal immigrants aren't necessarily criminals . . . Of course this decision could take years of legal wrangling to sort out and by then maybe the many towns in Kansas (like Wichita and KCK) that are turning predominately Hispanic might have some new questions. On other hand . . . Over the past few years (from what I've seen) it hasn't been laws or even crackdown efforts that have stemmed the tide of immigration but it's been mostly the rampant anti-immigrant sentiment that has been documented in keeping more Mexicans at home then usual or at least making them feel even more uncomfortable as people with almost no legal recourse in this society . . . Not that I care much, but what I've seen is that this this same backlash works against Latinos who are citizens as well and that's usually where discriminatory laws and hate groups that hassle Latinos become completely unacceptable and simply part of the legacy of racism that continues to haunt the U.S . . .

I don't think anything will happen.

In my anecdotal experience, it seems to be the opposite.

Mexican-americans who make at least a cursory attempt to learn English are met with open arms.

Culturally they share a religion as well as American values (family oriented, actually has kids unlike yuppies, hard working).

They don't share a language and they have to realize that they need to take an english class to get better jobs and get accepted into all aspects.

I notice lots of my cracker-white engineering/white collar friends, especially in Texas, marrying Latinas. You would have never seen that 20 years ago.

They seem happy and their families had no problems with the woman AT ALL.

I don't know, maybe it's different across the country.

The only place I found true and constant strife between whites and chicanos was in Southern California.

shit man, drive to the westside and to the eastside. Look at the houses. Who would you rather live next to?

I see flower boxes and white fences westside I see pit bulls and cyclone fence Eastside. Even Argentine isn't the shithole that people make it out to be. It's just a working class neighborhood.

You sure do like to drive a racial wedge, don't you Tony. Ever think maybe it's people like you who make the situation even worse than it already is by constantly berating anyone who isn't your color? But then, maybe that's just what you want.
