"I have heard the cries of my people"

Note: I hope you bastards appreciate this . . . The image above puts me at risk of being punched in the face the next time I go out for a burrito in my neighborhood but it make-y me laugh so it's all good
Thank you for all of the comments and spiteful remarks on my blog yesterday. Your
Recently, I began to see the point of local extremist dog activists regarding not having easy access (heh) to backdoor deals (no homo?) when it comes to decisions about the dog park. And Lord knows when a certain group is frustrated, a plethora of profanity, yelling and hateful remarks is the best way to make your concerns ring out.
In particular, quite a few members of this bitchy dog pack have called for THE ENTIRE PARKS BOARD TO STEP DOWN . . . And this got me thinking that vigilante/hate group member Frances Semler would also have to give up her seat (YEAH!) if the all powerful doggie advocates got their way.
Like they say in politics, "The enemy of enemy is . . ." whatever. The point is that I have no problem admitting that dog advocates have more power than Latinos in Kansas City and if they can get Semler out of City Hall then so be it. And it's nice to see the list of people unimpressed with Funkhouser and his appointees is growing longer and longer. As for Parks Board President John Fierro who proudly proclaimed this summer that "He could work with" a member of a group who wants to racially profile all Latinos . . . I don't care if he's booted out of the door with her. And while normally, I'm on the side of almost any Latino in a leadership role . . . In this instance, let him go ask for support from the Minutemen and see what they tell him.
Furthermore, I like the fact that dog lovers (ew) are leaving this controversy at the feet of the Mayor. He did, in fact, promise more transparent government and in this case he didn't deliver - albeit on an issue that couldn't be less important.
NEVERTHELESS, time and time again the Mayor has proven to be stubborn, incapable of dealing with any criticism and completely inept when estimating the political ramifications of his actions therefore it stands to reason that his appointees would demonstrate the same qualities. Clearly, in this instance the Parks Board has cloned Mayor Funky's behavior. Yeah baby!
So, to a certain extent, I now agree with the bitches who have been barking about the unfairness of this week's decision regarding their precious doggie park while maintaining that the subject isn't as important as what I had for lunch yesterday: A club sandwich, with chips and ice tea.

No snack cakes?
Doubtful.
Gotta say that this hardcore Funk supporter is now thoroughly disillusioned and decidedly anti-funk. Not because of this dog park proposal per se, but simply because the actions of the park board violate precisely what the Funk campaign was based on. To get back any cred at all he is going to have to take a stand on what happened and at the very least admonish those responsible.
The people who brow beat the city into a dog park are the reason every major city in the country is a falling down, crime ridden mess. They want to live in lofts, ride trains and have someone else pay for their transportation and back yards. Then when the city doesn't have money to spend on police they piss and moan about crime.
John Fierro tendered any claim he had on respect when he did not resign from the Parks Board in the face of Semler's appointment. The Minutemen and Eagle Forum are hate groups and Fierro should not have agreed to lend his former standing to two such groups.
I'm guessing the real reason the doggie park went down was because certain bare-footed women didn't want to have to side-step the poo
Brookside and Waldo don't really need a dog park. Its not that good after all because:
When people come to the dog park they leave their trash from fast food restaurants.
Car traffic increases
People's dogs run stray when they dont come back to their master.
They drive their cars on the park
grounds.
Dog shit is everywhere ( not everyone picks up their dog shit).
Dog fights break out.
And most of all, LETS STOP HUMANIZING YOUR PETS.
*Your pet does not talk to you or trys to talk to you.
Last time I checked, our young men were being blown up to ensure that the territorial lines for Iraq don't get redrawn.
That being said, I'm against the idea. Turning a public park into a dog park basically means that you cannot bring kids there because of concerns about giving them parvovirus and hookworms from the shit. No good parent would let a kid play in a dog park. This is a way for yuppies and D.I.N.K.s to keep people out of the park and shit out of their yards. fuck em
let see how far they will get if they try to put a dog park in loose park
I love the idea of a fenced in space for dogs.
Here's a compromise (that won't work):
The Parks Board should designate an area in Swope Park as the City's
Doggie Park.
The dog owners, lovers and other civic leaders who weren't offended by Mayor Funk and his Mrs. Funkyfeet could help with setting up the area, maintaining it and providing security.
Talk about diversity at its finest!
Caveats:
Would doggie owners who wanted the Brookside or Waldo area go to a citywide designated place on the Eastside to let their dogs run free and poop at will?
Would Eastside residents near Swope want an influx of people from all over the city coming to Swope Park with their sh*tting dogs?
Maybe "cultural elitism" as well as economic and class differences just can't be addressed by (the Funk's) "diverse" appointments.
That's some funny shit. Well done.
Brilliant idea about Loose Park. I would just LOVE to see a dog park go up there. Excellent choice!
No dog park in or near a neighborhood is a Brilliant idea.
The problem with this is that the dogs shit everywhere and not everyone brings bags. Are you also allowing pit bulls at parks? Because they will bring them. People bring their fast food trash with them and throw it out. If people can't get their dog back they'll leave it or their dam dog runs off ( this is funny).
If you want it so bad go to the houses around Loose Park and see if they'll sign the petition Cate?
