On general principle I try not to agree with old, white men but the latest column by C.W. Gusewelle is damn gully: "KC’s urban sprawl limitless, mindless"
I looked outside and it looks like a beautiful day out in midtown until you open the door and smell the grimmy smell of car rubber from tires and some other kinds of smell you cannot recognize. When you come home from work, the back porch light is on. If you catch the rays from the light at the right time you can see all the crap particles floating in the air which everyone breathes in. This is why people keep moving further out in the suburbs.
First of all HE sold his 'farm' at 87th street. HE drained the lake and paved the place where he used to play tiddly winks.
And like hundreds of farm families that sold out, they won the development lottery with their property going for MILLIONS. So don't cry for that nostalgic fool.
Sprawl in KC has been far from midless. It is concentrated along major highways like 35, 70, 69 and 29. That's why nobody's commute is that long. Because you don't spend 20 minutes to get on the highway and crawl.
Someone should also tell CW that Town Center Plaza is in leawood not KC. Leawood goes from about 87th to ~175th. The 'grotesquely named' town center plaza sits RIGHT IN THE CENTER of the town, Leawood.
I half expected him to tell me of the good ole days where he used to get the prime seats on the bus because things were more orderly and less uppity back then.
The irony of people moving to the suburbs to avoid the crap particles in the air is that it's all the driving around done by the suburbanites that is partly to blame for K.C.'s lousy air quality.

CW fail.
Paintman,
