Who's to blame for Bannister Mall's demise?
The much maligned South KC Mall closes today and while so many people (like myself) choose to blame roving band of young Black guy's for the mall's demise, I blame people who ran in fear for both real and imagined reasons.

I've known people who have been attacked there, so the fear is genuine.
Not to mention the shops there sucked.

I wouldn't even say black teenagers. I work retail in that area and the most thieves we catch are not black teenagers. They're middle aged white methheads and middle aged black crackheads. I have some very bright black teenagers working for me who would have a fit if they saw one of their peers ripping us off. That'd be a bad day for that mother fucker.

The shops there didn't used to suck, but I haven't been there in quite some time. I wanted to go once more before they closed but I didn't get to.
I had my first three jobs there and the mall was defintly bumping.
It was interesting to watch the area decline as the lighter people moved out and it became darker. Trying to be potically correct. I was born and raised in SKC and still live in the area. I remember when it was built and it was sad to see the area decline the way it has.
There are only a few reasons I can think of as to why that happend.
