This town needs a theme . . . And "Going to Kansas City" just doesn't cut it. That's why I'm dedicating tonight's podcast to the best sitcom themes of my youth.
I can't help but think that something akin to the intro theme to the Sitcoms of the 80's would be perfect.
80's sitcom themes were hopeful, cheery and stupidly optimistic which reminds me a lot of the Funkhouser Administration. And just like TV sitcoms . . . While they might have given passing mention to the real world, the classic sitcoms were anything but realistic. Come to think of it, in a city which hosts a new stadium with no anchor tenant, an entertainment district that probably won't revive our lifeless urban core and infrastructure problems that require BILLIONS of funding . . . A sitcom-like theme for Kansas City would perfectly capture the naive and misguided notions of so many of this town's unquestioning cheerleaders.
How can you put a list like this together and not include the theme from Sanford and Son?!!
