People love to pretend to read!!!

The KC Lit Fest was a huge success!!!
Organizers had said they hoped to draw 10,000-plus to this first effort, saying that sort of turnout would justify attempts to make it an annual event. By late Saturday afternoon, they knew the city's reaction was strong enough that they could begin making plans for 2008. Estimated attendance: About 13,000.
And that's just awesome but doesn't at all fit in line with stats regarding illiteracy or book sales . . . Note to all KC event planners: If you can figure out a way to let people pose, then you can probably count on a crowd.

  1. ehhgh, let's spend the day with 13,000 nerds (OR, go to a library instead. It's almost summer, they'll be a ghost town. Well, unless you count the pofolk using the free internets. Which I don't)
