Christians bothering people on the Plaza

Here's hoping that Jesus hates all kind of performance art, especially people handing out religious tracts disguised as money. The clip is pretty pointless but it's a nice look at the people I usually pass, ignore and do my best to try not to spit on . . .

Highlights:

  • Hipster broad in Black trying to debate while her boyfriend looks bored.

  • White chick thinks it's real money they're handing out.

  • The various and nuanced ways people find to ignore or bypass the obstruction . . . Ew that sounds like talk regarding a colon blockage but rest assured, Christians bugging people on the street is far more annoying.

  • Bonus for people picking up The Pitch and other free publications . . . Now you get free religious tracts with the city's best guide to hookers and horrible real estate!!!

    What I didn't see:

  • Anyone taking the least bit of interest.

  • The owners of A/X justifiably telling them to clear out from their entrance.

  • Lightning striking given that breaking the commandment of "leaving people the f*ck alone on their weekend" is nearly blasphemous.

As someone who really can't believe I did this kind of stuff before. I must say, that *usually* the people doing these kinds of things generally do care about the people they are trying to reach.

Other than the leader, I'm sure the rest of them were pretty dang embarrassed, but they're just trying to do what they think is right.

I certainly don't "condone" this kind of stuff, because it's lame, annoying, and ineffective. Just reminding you that while you make fun of them, also acknowledge, for at least a moment, that they are likely genuinely good and friendly people.

They are ass hats. If I had sat down on that sidewalk and forced something with say I dunno the Easter Bunny or some other such nonsense, I would have been run off. The second poster was correct it is ineffectual at best, and could be dangerous at worst. Go back to the cult you are part of and leave the rest of us alone.

    re: "asshat" and "ass hat"
take it to fark.com, low-rent dawkins clones. Nobody is fooled by your pitiful parroting of dawkins lines to get a response.

People don't look or listen to anybody on the street, ever. I thought this was the first thing they told you when you moved to the city to prevent the hipsters from being eaten for meat.

That being said is no excuse when they push into you or step in your way when you try to get AROUND them. Take your fairy tale believing ass somewhere else.

Funny, Harry Krishnas aren't allowed to sell vegetarian cookbooks on the Plaza...but these a-holes can do this. I won't tolerate Christans sad sack "our religion is under attack" any longer.

    Wish I had been there.
