TIF times Twenty

Candidate for City Council Mark Forsythe (4th in-district) reacts to the latest TIF travesty as featured in a thoughtful post by BlogKC. Sadly, this kind of stuff is only big news to the 2 or 3 dozen people who follow City politics closely but even the casual media watcher can see that this Council has gone too far in handing out tax exemptions and Bonnie Sue "Corporate Tax Cut" Cooper desperately needs to realize that the X-mas season is over and her insane spirit of giving is mostly wasted on the corporate interests hounding City Hall for more welfare.

Someone needs to get out the Webster's Dictionary and read the definition of "blighted" to the City Council. I drove through the new Briarcliff shopping area on Christmas Day and "blight" wasn't even CLOSE to being the word I thought of. Meanwhile, those of us living (renting, 'cause I can't afford to buy) Downtown are dealing with backed-up sewers and gaping holes in the pavement. When I fall through the crumbling infrastructure, I'll be sure and give the Council's regards to the C.H.U.D.s down below.
