Lou Dobbs draws a little crowd

Little more than 300 folks turned out to see KMBZ's over priced event featuring Lou "Anti-Mexican means ratings!" Dobbs the biggest thing in broadcast media since Walter Winchell.

Frankly, I would have thought the guy would have been able to put together a bigger crowd considering that a decent mojado band can easily garner more than 500 short Mexican dudes wearing cowboy hats on a Saturday night.

I think the reason for the disappointing turnout is that Dobbs doesn't really have a clear ideology. He's all over the place and rants against Republicans and Democrats and somehow is trying to adopt a "working class" pose even though he spent most of the 80's and 90's giving backrubs to CEO's when he tired to cover business news.

Thing is, I think that most people can see his recent ranting as nothing more than a cynical attempt to get better ratings. For the most part it's working but in order for people to dish out serious money for a book and the pleasure of his company . . . He's got to be more entertaining than just another crotchety old white guy. I'm guessing that Prussian Blue would have had a much better crowd. I know I would have went.

  1. Doesn't the article say "invite-only"? Maybe they only invited 300 people.
