Recently, the folks over at Present Magazine ran a great photo set featuring a lot of restaurants and businesses on West 39th Street. For the record, 39th street is the last place I like in Kansas City seeing as how, for the moment, it's still somewhat affordable to live near and you might actually see a minority going to one of these shops. Also, despite the posh restaurants and trendy shops the poserdom factor is at a low in this place . . . Which is nice but I'm sure will change as soon as good word gets around . . . This town need a crime wave in different places for a change. Okay, not really but it's nice to see a group of businesses work within a community rather than demolish it . . . Also, since the place is located in a neighborhood there have been few condos to creep in . . . Yet.
I was highly disappointed with the fact they left out Freak's on 39th St. That shop is as important to the 39th community as any other. All of my roommates including my boyfriend have worked arduously making that place the best tattoo and piercing studio in the city and this magazine can't even acknowledge it??? The most they did was put contact information in the back and didn't even bother to ask if it needed to be updated. So disappointed.
