Bittersweet alleged battery

A Kansas City police officer was charged Friday with first-degree assault and abuse of a 2-year-old child after the kid, who was his girlfriend's daughter, was severely injured at a Clay County residence.

For the most part, I'm not a fan of child abuse unless it's in the appropriate places i.e. the grocery store, a theater or a restaurant but I do support police beating the shit out of people other than minorities.

2 years-old though, that's kind of young and unfortunately there's no way a jury would believe that the baby was holding a gun because kid's toys are so brightly colored nowadays. Also, whenever these kind of horrible child abuse stories appear in the media involving the darkies, there are always code words like "culture of violence" and the like thrown around by shrinks and sociologists . . . What does a similar analysis say about a member of law enforcement or law enforcement as a whole? People always love to make those kind of extrapolations about the racial/ethnic group they like the least so it's only fitting that the same "logic" works its way into professional life. I know I'm always looking for even more reasons to hate lawyers, dentists and those snooty ass convenience store clerks.

Anyway, it's a sad situation I know but I only wonder why the guy didn't simply use his Taser. If Tasers work for keeping grandma's in line then I'm sure they'd do the trick on babies as well.

  1. the level of suicide, divorce, alcohol abuse and depression is higher among cops, i'm sure child abuse is not uncommon either. the only suprising thing is that they didn't cover it up.
