After the Empire Theater is renovated into a multiplex, it will take its original name: the Main Street Theater.

I'm sure the disease carrying pigeons who inhabit the place now will be happy to know this because it won't matter to anybody else seeing as people can see the same shitty movie out in the suburbs so there is no reason to travel to downtown KC in order to do so.

  1. You're forgetting about the 15,000 people living downtown who don't want to have to drive to the BFE suburbs to see the same shitty movies.

  2. Tony denies the reality that anybody lives downtown.

Anyway, Think of the Pigeons! We are gentrifying out the pigeons from their historic homeland so white yuppies can watch movies! TRAGEDICY!$!#IRHJR@ER(*UY

  3. I'm equally worried about gentrifying out the Empire's rooftop trees. Where will the cutting down of our trees end!??!?!?!?

  4. Hey Tony, I live on Charlotte St and will be at that theater regularly when it opens. Who fucking cares about suburban commuters?

  5. I'm sure the pidgeons are just as anxious to split to the 'burbs as all of the young neo-urbanites who are trapped living among the street people begging for a cigarette, a light, spare change, food, water, sex or just a bit of goon-babble conversation.

The pidgeons have the advantage. They can fly to the suburbs and roost wherever they want. The young neo-urbanites are just too pretentious or poor to make the move.

I spend eight hours a day watching the freak-show that is downtown KC. No way in hell I would live within robbing distance of that rabble.

  6. The trick is to be too poor to move, because the upside is that even within robbing distance, they can't get shit!
