Apparently, the hookers that hang on Independence Avenue are spreading out (like legs or a disease) to other sections of the Northeast Community.
Honestly, this is one instance where I will concede that the influx of Mexicans into Kansas City (and the Northeast in particular) will not help the situation. See, for the most part Mexicans don't really have a problem with hookers. They see them as a part of life, a reasonable career vocation for women who never knew their fathers and part of our entrepreneurial culture. In rural Mexico, this attitude won't really hurt anybody but the women forced to sell their ass but that simply won't fly in KC for a lot of good reasons that all start with some kind of strange rash . . . I've heard. Anyway, as Mexicans assimilate (despite what Pat Buchanan tells you) they overcome this backward attitude and realize that marrying whores is the only (relatively) safe way to enjoy their company and over time the price usually comes out the same. You also may be able to snag a few dinners out of the deal.
Anyway, the problem of prostitution is not new to the people of Independence Ave or the Northeast area but this article is still a great read if only to document the continued frustration and effort to ignore the simple fact that monogamy is a myth and sex for money is pretty much standard practice whether the exchange is on a street corner or at one of the many fancy weddings in this town during the month of June.

However, now that I have read your blog on Mexicans and prostitution, I see that you are just another ignorant idiot. Because you are white, do you wear a white sheet and burn crosses? I am hoping you don't. I am a Mexican, Republican, professional who believes a person(black/white/brown/red/yellow/blue/green, whatever!) should come into this country by legal means, not by sneaking over the border.

ReplyDeleteOn another note, I've seen articles that discussed prostitutes and articles that discussed women who have as many one night stands as prostitutes do johns. I'd like to see an article that addresses both and what's being done. Seems like the only separation between the two is how they advertise, but only one is against the law.
I live right off Independence ave at Gladstone blvd. In a big nice house. There is a prostitute that lives right next door to me. There are illegal mexicans that live accros the street from me also. There draging down my homes value. and it sucks. The "Home less" come to my door baging for money its frustrating.
