Pricey Police Academy
The KCPD's Northland police academy might cost $2 million more than expected.
Sadly, this seems to prove that the people in charge of the KCPD can neither control costs nor the murder rate. The over runs are blamed on construction delays and other unforeseen costs. More than half of the $1.02 million of the initial contingency fund is gone as the Board of Police commissioners agreed to provide another $1 MILLION DOLLARS to the account.
Somehow, I think all of this is fitting because I've always believed that construction companies are the biggest crooks in this town and clearly they can get away with ripping off the police. Still, I'm sure everything is on the up and up and this tiny bit of debt will inspire the cops who graduate from the academy to go out and earn their keep by making the city money while writing a great many tickets and also protecting the assets of the upper class in KC from all of the filthy, poor and dangerous brown people.

Thank God JE Dunn got a fat tax break to keep their headquarters in downtown! Just think of how much $$$$ they're going to be saving us taxpayers with preferential pricing and such!
yes, absolutely agree that the construction lobby in KC and elsewhere is the biggest lobbying group that no one ever hears about!
