Taking a Zeke peek at my politics

Ezekiel Amador recently filed to run for the 4th District City Council (in-district) seat and he has recently set up a website.
This represents a great quandary for me for personal reasons and since politics is personal for me that means I'm even more screwed up than usual.
Here's the background:
Awhile back Zeke threw his support behind Chief Corwin instead of the Latino favorite Vince Ortega. As always, I'm down with the brown so I figured that both guys seemed equally qualified so I would support the Latino cop. I didn't sign a petition or go to a rally but I think I might have posted something nice about him on this blog.
Well, Zeke is smarter than I am and he backed the winning horse (that's me being generous) Corwin and the guy obviously got the job and has been an utter disappointment blaming schools and anyone but himself (and his lack of ideas) for last year's spike in violence. Subsequently, Zeke and I got in an e-mail fight on the subject. We now know that in the case of all fights on the Internet the winner is still . . . You know what I mean. So, of course I won the argument.
And now my problem: My argument with Zeke basically went like this: As a Latino, if you see two people who are equally qualified for the same position then it is incumbent upon you to support the Latino guy. I know it's racist but until the Senate starts looking like something close to the rap group Cypress Hill I'm sticking with it and calling the attitude "necessary" for survival. White people accusing me of racism makes me laugh and cheers me up when I'm feeling blue.
However, now that Zeke is running for council I'm faced with the legacy of my own bullshit and yet another hypocritical stance in my life. My inclination is to support Mark Forsythe not only because he has a blog and he seems to be a harmless white guy but also because unlike Steve Glorioso (the embodiment of everything wrong with KC politics), Forsythe seems to understand both the importance of infrastructure in our city and bloggers in regard to local political discussions. Yet, Zeke's level of community involvement has always impressed me and I know him to be a great and intelligent guy.
Soooooooooooo, I'm stuck. I think both of these guys are the only two real choices for the 4th District. Rumors of Aggie Stackhouse emerging from whatever rock she crawled under don't impress me. Her only accomplishment was getting the 40 oz. banned in KC proper and for that alone she deserves one gigantic bitch slap. Mel Solomon reminds me too much of my Grandpa and we didn't even let him handle the television remote control. And don't get me started on Jan Marcason, who is obviously under the misguided notion that women have something to contribute to politics other than potato salad.
In the end, the only two candidates worth considering are Forsythe and Amador. Voting for either one is a good choice. In the coming months I'm going to be racking my brain trying to make my decision. As with most things in life, the choice comes down to what's correct and what I believe . . .

As far as his community involvement- Zeke should be shot in the foot for his involvement in Our Lady of Guadalupe School and those poor kids should get any medical benefits/money he would have recieved for the wound. The state of Our Lady of Guadalupe School is TERRIBLE... on a good day.
Trick love da kids
Thanks for the mention Tony. All I ask is your fair consideration for your vote which is exactly what you're doing.
I'll cop to the white guy part (Scotch-Irish) but harmless? I've been called a lot of things but I don't recall harmless being in the top ten!
Excuse me... did you just say that Jan Marcason is "obviously under the misguided notion that women have something to contribute to politics other than potato salad"? You may think she's a lame candidate, but as a women I take great offense at this sexist comment!
I guess Zeke should have gotten involved with a school that doesn't need help. Yeh, that makes a lot of sense.
