Get on the bus

Local blogger Heidi blogs against racism by addressing the shortcomings of KC's bus system despite their recent public relations overtures to Rosa Parks:

How nice that there's now a sign by the front seat of a bus honoring Rosa Parks.

It will be even nicer when there is enough transit to serve everyone who needs it, when it works as well for people of all classes and colors.

As for myself, I love the idea of conserving energy and riding with the proletarian masses on a public transportation system built for the working people of this city. But then I really hate sitting next to strangers and I enjoy farting and cussing people out in the privacy of my own car and speeding while I'm doing it. Let's just call it a dream deferred . . .
