County's staff cuts stir up criticism

Four Jackson County employees will lose their jobs at the end of the year because of County Executive Katheryn Shields’ budget-cutting efforts.

The employees, whose experience working for the county ranges from seven to 17 years, were told they were out two days before Thanksgiving.

Layoffs and bad news just seem harder around the holidays. That's why I try to smile whenever I rob someone at gunpoint during this time of year. If I'm in a really saucy mood I make them sing X-mas carols.
