Alternative to what?
BlogKC has a great post detailing new art shows in town modeled after the success of First Fridays.
I was going to title this post "Where the wild things aren't" but that would have been entirely too racist and self-loathing.
Still, I've been to First Fridays a few times (I have walked among them) and it seems to be a very vanilla affair. Fine, but it leads me to this observation:
Modern art is the equivalent of country music for hipsters . . . Which is to say that wherever you see or hear either form of expression, you're lucky to encounter any more than a few minorities.
Just a thought, but check it out and your results probably won't vary.
