Doctors Accuse Insurance Companies Of Fraud, Extortion

Doctors are so upset they might not even enjoy their next round of golf.

This article points out certain cases where patients were denied care secondary to their insurance companies denying the claims. If you have a patient, say with cancer that requires a certain very expensive medication to treat that cancer that he or she may live, why does an insurance company have the right to deny that medication that the patient needs?

If the complaint is that the drug cost is too high (prices are set by drug companies not physicians) yet the patient needs the medication to save their life they should get it.

If your family member needed a test/study to help diagnose or rule out a posible illness why should insurance compaines have the right to say no to such a claim. Is that not the purpose of having medical insurance?
